Rising Damp Hackney
Rising damp (or Salt Damp) is something that affects most older buildings to some degree or another, potentially leading to major structural problems. The effect occurs when water from the ground rises up through the bricks and mortar of a building; much like how oil rises up through the wick of a lamp. It can also be a major issue in modern buildings and can lead to condensation problems. However, there are ways to help sort out the issue and prevent it.
Recently Sterling Timber and Damp was called upon to treat cases of rising and penetrating damp in Thorndon Hall, Brentwood, Essex. This magnificent and very extensive Grade One Listed Building typifies the scale of project that our craftsmen thrive on.
